The Game, Neil Strauss and Annihilation Method

Hey guys,

Area51Lifestyle continues it’s insider investigation into the New York Times best seller  The Game and it’s author Neil Strauss…

Now long before I met Neil I met Mystery.

After a dinner conversation during which Mystery mapped out how he was going to walk into saddle ranch and pick-up a pretty girl, right down to the the smallest details including how he would approach two seated girls within seconds of entering and offer them his arms to stroll around the room…

…We headed to Saddleranch and Mystery did exactly what he said he was going to do.

Plus our buddy Craig had his own particular brew of PUA, that Craig calls “the natural way” that looked, well, very natural.

(And fun.  The main thing I noticed was that girls Mystery and Craig met lit up with laughter and excitement. That’s what I paid the most attention to.)

Now another character I met at this event was Matt Kadish, aka Thundercat or Joseph Matthews.

Matt’s blog, Thundercats lair was apparently quite a hub of controversy in those days, and Matt wanted advice on how to expand his business.  I explained email marketing to him on a napkin at Burger King.  Matt’s friend Swingcat came along too, but he didn’t seem impressed.

Months later I got a call from Matt thanking me for my help and telling me the good news, that he had started pulling in around $10,000 a month from his business because of what I’d helped him with. (For more information on online marketing advice like what I shared with Matt go to BringtheFresh.com)

In one of those very weird coincidences/arguments for the law of attraction, I was visiting a friend in Georgia, Frank Kern, when Frank actually brought Matt’s alias, Thundercat, up.

It turns out that Frank had just stumbled across “The Game” Penetrating the Society of Pick-up artists, the red hot New York Times best seller and he was obsessed because he thought it was just so interesting from a psychology perspective.

I had never heard of the book, but I knew exactly what he was talking about when he started describing Mystery.

Frank had been tutoring his cousin Trey in online marketing and Trey also loved “The Game” and had the idea of doing some kind of an online marketing launch with Neil…

(Frank, our friend John Reese and I had a quite a habit of doing online marketing launches…in fact the reason I was visiting Frank was because I was working on the launch for Product Launch Formula.)

“Well I can put you in touch with Thundercat.” I told Frank.  “And I’m pretty sure he knows Neil Strauss.”

And that’s how Neil’s internet marketing career began, the beginning frames of the Annihilation Method launch…

Its all happening,

Mike Long

Area 51 Lifestyle.com Investigates The Game by Neil Strauss

Hey,

Area51Lifesyle.com has been covering Mystery, described by the New York Times as the worlds greatest pick-up artists, for the last couple of years…

…Now I’ve decided to expand the investigation to the New York Times best seller, The Game, by Neil Strauss (Aka Style in the pick-up artist, or PUA, community.)

I met Neil early in 2006 though I helped out a bit on his Annihilation Method launch with online marketing guru Frank Kern and Matt Kadish, who goes by the pseudonyms Joesph Matthews and Thundercat.

Here’s the story:

In the summer of 2004 I stumbled across the whole “pick-up artist” community because I was on a west coast tour with John Reese (another online marketing guru) and Eben Pagan, (Aka David DeAngelo of Double Your Dating) invited John to join him at an event he was putting on for his dating advice customers.

John and I got the opportunity to peek behind the scenes of the PUA world and what we learned was astonishing!

We learned that there was a secret society of pick-up artists, but that the word was getting out and thousands of guys were flocking to guys like Mystery, the PUA that many, including the New York Times, describe as the greatest in the world amongst all the Pick-up artists.

By coincidence John and I were seated with Mystery at the end of the VIP table where he regaled us with pick-up artist strategies and stories from his shocking life experience.

We didn’t meet Neil at that time, but we were walking through his world around a year before he would publish “The Game” which would become a New York Times best seller.

John and I ended up at Project Hollywood, the house that Neil was living at the time.

An old Rat Pack mansion, Project Hollywood was Mystery’s brainchild, the ultimate bachelor pad tucked behind Mel’s Diner (from the 80s TV show, Alice) and Saddleranch, which is a “chop house” and singles scene.

John and I were hanging out with Craig Clemens, who would become part of the character Grimble in The Game and Mystery when we went over to Saddle Ranch and watched Mystery in action.

Now I’ve heard a lot of guys talk a big game when it comes to picking up girls, but Mystery did exactly what he said he would do, which is attract the interest of a very pretty young woman.

But what was more astonishing was how Mystery “called his shot” before hand, describing nearly exactly how things would happen.

That incident ended up leading to a chain of events where I would meet, become friends with and work with Neil Strauss.

Next: Saddle ranch and the Annihilation Method.

It’s all happening,

Mike Long
